Windows 10: Windows Activation not working?

Built a PC a month or so ago, and my motherboard was damaged and had to buy a new one, I go on to the settings, Update and Security, Activation, Troubleshoot then press the link saying 'I changed Hardware on this device recently' my old PC with my faulty motherboard pops up (CPU, GPU, RAM everything is the same except motherboard) and I click it only to be met with a message that goes by 'Unable to activate Windows, we cant reactivate windows on this device. Try again later.'

Is there any fix to this? Or would I have to just buy a new key? Seems pretty ridiculous to buy a new key with every mobo.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Windows activation doesn't work

Hi Michael,

This might be caused by Windows Firewall issues. We'd like to know where you bought the activation code. As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest turning Windows Firewall On. Follow the steps below:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Click System and Security then Windows Firewall.
  
• Then on the left panel, select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
  
• Select Turn on Windows Firewall, click OK then restart PC.
