Windows 10: Windows activation not working.

Hello! I have recently tried getting windows 10 pro when I had home edition. I heard from a friend that you can get it for free, and he linked me a post. I did what it said, which included posting some lines of code into cmd and it messed up my pc a bit. Not like a virus, but it wont let me change back to home edition. I have my key, and I believe if I remember correctly My windows was activated via account, but I cannot switch back. If I try to troubleshoot, I get an error saying I need internet, yet I do have it. Any suggestions?

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Windows activation doesn't work

Hi Michael,

This might be caused by Windows Firewall issues. We'd like to know where you bought the activation code. As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest turning Windows Firewall On. Follow the steps below:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Click System and Security then Windows Firewall.
  
• Then on the left panel, select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
  
• Select Turn on Windows Firewall, click OK then restart PC.
