Windows 10: Windows activation number recovery

My computer is not starting due to a dead hard drive and I cannot find my windows activation key to refresh and reinstall windows when I get another hard drive, is there any other way I can recover the number?

Data Recovery for Mac (OSX Capitan) ?

Anybody knows of a good data recovery software for mac? Preferably free?

I use Active@ Data Recovery for Windows, but honestly no idea what to use for Mac OSX.

Any suggestions?

 

Windows 10 Activation after reinstallation

  What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  

• What is the Windows Version came preinstalled with the Dell laptop?
• Do you receive any error message, while activating Windows 10?
• When you say "The only number I have is the original number on the disc" is it a recovery DVD provided by Dell?
  
• If its recovery DVD by Dell, what is the version of Windows mentioned on the DVD

• 
  Do you have a Product key?

Using the Activation troubleshooter



If you have a product key for Windows 10, then try activating over phone.

1. Press Windows + R key to open Run box
   
2. 
   Type slui 4 and click Ok to open up a box that will let you activate your Windows via the telephone.
   
3. 
   Select your
   country from the drop-down menu and click Next.
   
4. 
   You will see some toll-free phone numbers which you have to call. You will be required to provide the numbers mentioned in Step 2 when you are asked.
   
5. 
   The representative in turn, give you a Confirmation ID, which you will need to enter. Once done, click on Activate to activate your copy.
