    Windows Activation Service fails to start with events 5217, 5215, 5005


    Hello,


    I want to use the IIS on my Win10 Pro Version 2004 Build 19041.508. The IIS won't start because of the WAS failing to start.


    The first error in the eventlog is EventID 5217, [ Qualifiers] 49152

    followed by EventID 5215 [ Qualifiers] 49152
    followed by EventID 5005 [ Qualifiers] 49152.

    What I tried so far


    1. checked the MachineKeys in c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys\ as stated in Windows Activation Service fails to start after upgrading to 1709 but there are not files named

    2. checked the security-settings for all other files and SYSTEM already has full access to every file in c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys\.


    3. uninstalled IIS Feature, deleted c:\inetpub\ and contents of c:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\.


    I am lost, what else could I do?

    Any hint is appreciated.

    Windows Activation Service fails to start after upgrading to 1709, events 5215, 5005, error code 8007000D

    Hello,

    I've just upgraded to 1709. And now Windows Activation Service fails to start. It generates event 5215 and then 5005. The only helpful information in these events is an error code 8007000D (Data Is Invalid).

    I've examined %windir%\System32\inetsrv\Config and %SystemDrive%\inetpub\history. The latest version is exactly the same it was before upgrading to 1709. I've tried to copy to inetsrv\Config the intermediate version created during the upgrade process
    (it looks much simpler)—but result is absolutely the same. I can't figure it out what to try next.

    I've been having a problem with WAS continuously Crashing my computer I believe, since everything freezes at once whenever I play a game or use a program for an extended period of time. I look at the event logs and it says Error with Event ID 5217, 5215
    and 5005. I don't know how to fix or prevent this from happening any further since I would like to just do what I like on my computer without it crashing whenever I use it.
