Windows 10: Windows Activations Key Transfer Validation Failed

Hi Everyone,I recently bought a customized pc which didn't have a windows license on, so I thought to transfer my Windows 10 Pro licence from the old pc which I not going to use anymore.This is what I did:Step1: on command prompt: slmgr.vbs /upk unninstalled the activation key from the old pcStep2: created a bootable usb - insterted the key when asked and it successfully led me into the installation setupStep3: on command prompt: slmgr.vbs /ipk *Your Product Key Here*. There is no difference between the OEM disc and the Retail disc with Windows 7. A retail disc will accept a OEM or Retail key, and vise versa.

If the OEM Key wasn't going to work with the disc you have, it would have stopped you during the install when it first asked you for the key, not during activation.

What is likely the problem is that, since the OEM version has already been activated once, it is failing activation again. Activate it over the phone using the option given to you on the failed activation screen, and you shouldn't have a problem activating it.

 

Is the free upgarde transferable? I think not.

Can you confirm that the computer at step 5 (I numbered your list *Wink ) had never had an activated Insider build (especially not 10240)?

I'm wondering if it was possible that the second machine activated because the activation servers recognised the hardware from an earlier activation, and not because of the method you used to transfer?
