  1. Windows Acts Like A Key Is Stuck & Task Bar Only Partially Responds

    Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange error with Windows; when I open the the programmes bar it won't let me scroll down with my mouse and if I use the down key it scrolls right back to the top once I let go of the key. If I try open the search or task view they don't respond and it I open the search by thy windows key it barely lets me type a single letter before it starts scrolling up.

Windows media player seems to be affected as well. When I'm watching something the bar keeps popping up (the pause button, video progress bar etc) as if something was triggering it. I also can't select the pause or forward 30/back 10 second options because it just just causes a white rectangle around the video progress. I can still pause with spacebar or manually select on the bar though.

Internet explorer has the same issue where it autoscrolls up as if I'm holding the key also if I right click on an app in the taks bar it autoscrolls up. It seems to be confined to windows as Chrome, the task manager, steam and microsoft word are all uneffected. Also not a problem if I'm in game on anything

Is there any troubleshooting I can do for this? If this a known issue (or similar to another one)?

    Thanks for any assistance

    :)

  2. task bar not responding

    Hi,

There are several possible reasons why the task bar is not working as expected. One of them may be caused by a corrupted user profile. In your case, we'd like to ask for additional information to help us determine the appropriate steps to solve the issue.
    Please answer the following:

    • Have you made any recent changes or installed updates before the task bar stopped responding?
    • Was the task bar working after you have created the user profile?
    • Have you checked if the issue also exists with the other user profiles?
    • What build and version of Windows 10 are you using?
For initial troubleshooting, you can follow the steps in this article:
Troubleshoot problems opening the Start menu or Cortana

We hope to hear from you soon.

  4. Windows Acts Like A Key Is Stuck & Task Bar Only Partially Responds

Start Key not working. Things pinned to task bar not responding

    Hi, Micheal.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, and we will try to resolve your issue the best way we can.

As per your query there are three issues in hand.

    1. Not able to right click on the Start Menu.

    2. Cannot save screen shots.

    3. Task bar hangs/freezes.

To resolve the issue with regards to the screenshots not getting saved, I would like you to provide the information stated below:

    1. How are you capturing the screenshot? Using crtl+print screen or with the help of the Snipping Tool?

    2. Which location are you trying to save the screen shot in?

As for the issue related to the task bar and right click not working, I would suggest that you perform SFC scan and check if there are any corrupted files or folders in your system. To do so follow the steps below

    • Press ‘Windows + X’ Keys.
    • Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ to bring up an elevated command prompt.
    • Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for permission.
    • In the command prompt type in the following command and then press
      Enter.
    sfc /scannow

Also, I would suggest that you log into another User account and check if the issue persist.

    Hope this information helps.
