  1. Windows anniversary update: Not enough memory

ALrighty then...... I see a LOT of windows anniversary threads, sorry for not reading all 6 million of them to see if my problem was addressed. By the titles I saw it wasn't.

Anyway, I've gone through this whole download install thing about 5 times now. EACH time at the end it won't boot my computer, comeback with a blue screen and an error that says basically: You don't have enough memory.

I have OVER 800GB on the main hard drive itself empty.

I have tried updating when it said it was time. FAIL

I tried manually going to updates after the first fail. FAIL

I downloaded the file directly from Microsoft. FAIL

I ran the microsoft update fixit tool. FAIL

I get it. I need to either get a thumb drive or a disc and burn an iso but WHY? I don't have a single disc or thumbdrive with 850gb's on it, which is how much i have on my computer empty NOW and Microsoft says it isn't enough.......

So far this is really the *biggest* problem I have had with win 10 and really it's not a *problem* yet that is particularly difficult (just a PITA).

Anyway, can I do this without an ISO? and can you direct me to the thread or tutorial on HOW to do the ISO/thumbdrive thing? I really hate making duplicate threads for the same problem, but those threads were all over the place.

    :)

  3. Anniversary update - not enough space

Unfortunately I didn't found a fix. I don't know why this update needs exactly 16 GB, I don't install stuffs on the internal storage, just on the Micro SD card. I hope that Microsoft will find a solution for this.

Windows anniversary update: Not enough memory

Don't confuse RAM memory with HDD storage. The minimum specs for RAM memory were raised from 1GB in 1511 to 2GB for 1607 (the anniversary update). Assuming you do have more than the minimum 2GB...

How to get the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

for the iso, see the part where says...

  5. Sorry Bree, I must have done a horrible job explaining what the problem is, because none of that addresses thew issue at all lol.

Also sorry for taking so long to get back to this, but I didn't have time to mess with it and only got the one reply......

Anyway, I'll post the solution that worked for me in the next post.

Thanks again for the effort Bree

  6. From http://betanews.com/2016/01/06/how-t...ng-windows-10/

Initially I left Windows Update to do its thing, but this failed on countless occasions. The error message suggested that a problem with my internet connection had interrupted the download, but this seemed unlikely. After numerous attempts, I decided to opt for a USB-driven installation. This also failed, this time with error 0xc0000017: "There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device". Thankfully, the problem can be fixed -- here's what you need to do.

There are lots of absolutely nonsensical 'solutions' out there -- from disabling antivirus and unplugging peripherals, to disabling integrated graphics. None of these are helpful. The problem stems from areas of memory having been marked as bad, and this interferes with the Windows 10 installer's ability to make use of RAM as a temporary store for data. While it's possible that there is a genuine memory issue, the chances are that you can simply ignore the problem and get Windows 10 installed -- it worked for me.
The solution comes in the form of the Boot Configuration Data (BCD), which is built into Windows. Use the following steps and you'll be up and running in next to no time:

    • Boot your computer into Windows.
    • Right click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type bcdedit /enum all and press Enter.
    • You'll see a list of all the memory locations that have been deemed 'bad', this list can be cleared.
    • Type bcdedit /deletevalue {badmemory} badmemorylist and press Enter (type this verbatim, {badmemory} is not a placeholder for anything).
    • Close the Command Prompt window and restart your computer.
Now you can run the Windows 10 installer once again, and you should find that it completes without interruption.

NOTE: The guy who wrote this did it for the upgrade from Win7 and 8 to Win 10, but it worked for me on the Anniversary Update.

NOTE II: One of you expert guys might want to look at this and *certify* it safe. It deletes stuff and I lack the knowledge to know if that is stuff I shouldn't have deleted lol, but the update installed after at least a dozen failed attempts and it's working so far.
