Windows 10: Windows App RDP over an external network

So I've started using the Windows RDP app [iOS Ver 11.0.7] to control my PC within my home and it works perfect, however, I could really use this service out my home but I cannot figure out how to configure the Windows app to port forward to my pc. I've set up the port forward protocol on the router my PC is connected to, I've tried setting up the gateways to recognise said port within the app, made sure my PC has a static IP and I'm getting nowhere fast. Does anyone have any other advice or something new I can try?

Rdp doesnt work from outside my own network

So i have a windows 11 pro machine on which i want to open the RDP service over the network for a friend to use my system's computation power.

The problem i am facing is that i can access the system from any other machine in my local network using my public IP or ddns hostname on the rdp field but not if from outside the network.

From machines outside the network when entering the correct hostname/public IP seems that the connection just times out.

Steps i have taken:

• Enable rdp on the system and configure a static IP
  
• Configure port forwarding and dynamic dns on the router
  
• Select the scope of the users on the machine that can be accessed via rdp
  
• Firewall rdp is allowed
  
• Tried to disable firewall in order to check if it drops the connection but no luck either.

RDP Not Connecting from External Network

OS: Windows 11 Pro

RDP Initiator: Microsoft Remote Desktop (Apple App Store)

Issue:Every attempt (100+ times now) to initiate an RDP session using the public IP address, the Host PC name, the gateway IPv4 address, and username/domain name have failed

I managed to get it to work on the LAN using the local private IPv4 address on the home network; however, attempting to RDP in from outside the network is not working despite having disabled both firewalls, opened ports 3389 in the router, and edited group policies.

TLDR: Has anyone successfully accessed a Windows 11 Pro desktop using their M2 Macbook from outside the LAN?

 

RDP and Network Connection Drops While on Ethernet

Sam,

1. Even without issuing the ping -t command I will experience a RDP drop and network bottleneck
2. RDP clients are the same version
3. No firewall setup
4. All connecting with the same cables from similar ports

winbox1 has full duplexTrue
winbox2 does not have duplex True

Pretty sure it's something with the network setup, I might reinstall the OS
