Windows app stops responding when another app is started

I wrote a Windows application in Fortran using the Intel Fortran compiler within Visual Studio. The application accepts user input and then launches a lengthy numerical computation. During the computation, progress is monitored using a progress bar. When I run the application, it runs fine until I open another window. At that point, the app becomes "non-responsive": it no longer updates its progress bar, displays the "Not Responding" message adjacent to the app name, and displays the "Windows busy signal" the blue rotating circle. Even though it appears to be non-responsive, the applicati

Microsoft default Apps: "Stopped responding (and was closed)"

Upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

The problem with error reports on non responding Apps is not new to me; Windows 8.1 had them too- a lot.

Apps are slow to start but do work and create an error report in the background, which can be found in the Reliability Monitor, reporting: "Stopped responding [and was closed]". Eventually, apps will start and work normally.

However, the problem persists in Windows 10. Apps include (not exhaustive):

    • Store
    • Calculator
    • Film & TV
    • Weather
    • Money
    • Get Office
Is this known and is there a way to fix this?

    Cheers,

    Dave

  3. The start button and the metro apps stop responding.

The Problem i am having is that from time to time. The start button and the metro apps stop responding. Also microsoft edge stop responding. The only way to fix it is to reboot the machine.

So i could be typing a paper then i can go to edge and navigate to a website like bing or google and once i try and close it by pressing the x nothing would happen. I am then unable to go to any different websites. I then try and go to start to try and launch
a different program and the start menu stops responding.

Has anyone had this issue before and what steps can i do to stop this from keep happening.
