Windows 10: Windows apps close when trying to view images in Explorer

I've had this issue for a few months now, and nothing I've done seems to be helping, and I hope someone may have some idea.


I do did pre-COVID? a bunch of photography, and have a folder with over 13k images it needs organization, I know.... I use Explorer with the Preview pane open, and when I go through the pictures, I'd say 4 of 5 times, after going through the images for a bit, File Explorer will just close, along with all other Windows apps I have running. I know it's not a CPU or memory issue unless there's a really fast memory spike that clears when the apps close, but I can't figure out what's wrong. It's kinda hard to actually get organizing the images when as soon as I try to cut/paste, Explorer dies.


Any thoughts on what's going on, or diagnostics I can run to figure it out?

Thank you for the detailed response. To change the search result's view from content to list, we suggest following the steps below:

• Open the File Explorer and try to search for files.
• In the toolbar, open the View tab and click List
  to change the view.
• Once changed, close the File Explorer.
• Open the File Explorer again and try to search to see if the setting has been retained.

[HELP]Image recovery issues

Guys i am trying to fix my cousins Asus Eee netbook. It has a backup image file that is partitioned on the hard drive but when I go to use it the app will run through a few steps and stop. It is running Vista . Any suggestions?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
