    Windows apps freeze, screen turns black with audio and cursor, then BSOD.


    I upgraded my pc a month ago and a little after that, my pc began getting BSODs rarely but now im getting about 2-5 a day. I have tried reinstalling windows, it did nothing. I have tried many fixes like uninstalling my drivers and reinstalling them back.


    some of the most common stop codes I get are CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. I also got MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.


    Part of the problem maybe my HDD since I tried running a scan and fix on it and the percentage froze and didn’t continue but then again it maybe the new parts.


    Specs:

    Asus B450-PLUS PRIME motherboard

    Ryzen 5 1600x 3.6ghz

    GTX 960 4gb VRAM

    2x8gb 2400MHZ RAM (unknown brand)

    really old HDD 500gb, don’t even know the brand, most likely seagate, not too sure though.

    So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?

    Black screen after 'Starting Windows' sequence

    Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

    Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

    They, also, have some other options there, too.
    Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.
