    Windows Apps in Program Files cannot be deleted


    I am making space in my hard drive to install different games specifically, the Halo: Master Chief Collection which is quite large. Even though I've deleted files, the storage is still very full. After using an external program to check the storage properly, it shows that in the Program Files folder there is a folder holding the recently deleted game's data.If I try to delete this data, the system says I do not have SYSTEM permission. I just wanted to clear out some space, but now I have somehow even less. What can I do?

    Plz recomend program to recover deleted files.

    Let me try what you guys suggested, i am willing to pay for the program to get the files back.

    App for deleting files while being used by another process...

    Most of the time, booting in safe mode, as administrator, will enable you to remove those files (maps).

    however, there are some programs out there to do just whatyou ask, I once found one after some searching on google. So either try my suggestion, or in fact search on google perhaps?

    "Force delete" will bring up enough info on this.

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Windows Apps in Program Files cannot be deleted ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
