Windows 10: Windows ATA controller redownload/ fix?

None of my SATA devices is getting recognized anymore by Windows. They show up in the BIOS and when i boot the system on a linux USB-stick i can use them just as normal. This includes two hard drives and a DVD drive. The only thing that really can be the problem is the SATA controller driver in Windows in my knowledge. When i try and update that driver it shows an error message that it cant be installed, because the installation file is missing a nesscessary entry. i tried to find a way to redownload that file or the entire driver but every attempt failed. What can i do now?i updated the bios

I understand that it can get difficult if the system are not working as expected.
However, we can go ahead and try few steps to see if we can resolve this issue.

Method 1: Check hidden devices in Device Manager.

1. Press Windows Key +x
2. Click Device Manager
3. Go to Views tab and click on Show hidden devices from the drop-down menu.
4. Then search for hidden drivers if any IDE ATA /ATAPI DRIVER
   are listed.
5. Uninstall all the hidden drivers and reboot the PC, and check if that helps.

I also suggest you to refer this article on
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs, and check if that helps.

Thanks for following up. I missed the part when you mentioned that you already attempted to rebuild BCD and I apologize for that. Moving along, the next step that we can suggest is to use a different driver for the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller. Here are the
steps:

• Go to Control panel > Hardware and Sound >
  Device manager.
• Open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers tab.
• Select the controller 'SATA AHCI,' right click and select Properties.
• Choose the Driver tab and Driver Details and check if the driver found there is 'iastor.sys'.
• Select Update Driver Software, Browse and Let me Pick from a list of devices.
• Select 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller' from the list and install.
• Restart your PC.

This process was found to be a fix to the majority of reported WATCHDOG_VIOLATION errors in windows 10. If the issue still persist, we suggest updating all other drivers, especially your graphics card driver
manually.
