Windows 10: Windows Background.wav being run by Task Scheduler

I reinstalled my PC with newest Windows 10 Build 1903


Now I have a problem for some reason my PC keeps running Windows Background.wav I traced it down to the Exclamation and System Notification being the one triggered.


I did this by stripping away all sounds but the ones that had Windows Background.wav them give each a different wav sound and wait.


I used Process monitor.


Anyway at random Taskhostw.exe and same pid runs the wav file.


I then saw the Parent PID always was the same file svchost.exe ran as System when I then trace that to service it sends me to Schedule


Which has the description: Task Scheduler under the group netsvcs.


I have been going through everything in Task Schedule to see if I could find what it ran at that time to no avail.


Do anyone have a idea why this is happening and how to stop it or fix it?


I did not have this problem before reinstall and I have same setup as now as before.

Unable to run Task Scheduler

Meanwhile, I suggest that you try starting the Task Scheduler through command line. To do so, please follow these steps:

• Open Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type this net start task scheduler and hit Enter.

Background tasks no-longer running

So I've now got my background tasks working again with the help of people at the WPCentral forum. They advised that I uninstall apps that can use background tasks, whether those tasks are enabled or not. The theory is that Windows Phone has some kind of
issue with there being too many apps installed that register the use of background tasks and that disabling the background tasks does not help.



So here's what I did:

• Go to settings --> swipe left --> background tasks --> advanced.
• Make a list of all of the apps installed that can run background tasks.
• Uninstall as many of those apps as possible. In my case, I had quite a few apps that I actually rarely use.
• Restart the phone.

That's it. The background tasks for the apps I actually want to be able to run then just started running again. One person in the thread suggested you can also work around the problem by careful configuration of each app to disable background operations
you don't actually want, without having to uninstall them.
