Windows 10: Windows Backup - Not avail in portable workstation

A tech upgraded my HP PC to an SSD and went from Window 7 Pro to Windows 10. Now getting Windows Backup - Not avail in portable workstation. Also have a WD backup drive that went I try to set my back-up to this drive, cannot find device.

"This feature is not available in a portable workstation environment." error

After cloning Windows 10 to an SSD, Windows 10 keeps opening dialog boxes with the message "This feature is not available in a portable workstation environment".

They also appear when I try to use "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" or change any option.

I've tried several suggestions but to no avail (1)(2)(3).

What didn't work:

• Disabling Windows Backup Service (SDRSVC) and restarting.
  
• dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
  
• dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  
• dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
  
• sfc /scannow
  
• Looking for malware.
  

 

System Image Backup no longer available - Doesn't work on "portable"???

Hi,

I'm having an issue where the "System Image Backup" no longer is working for me - or at least not always.

Lately it has failed to recongnise my computer as a stationary, and instead thinks it's a portable - to which it denies making a copy.

~"This function is not available in the environment of a portable workstation."

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations Available?

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. I checked today, and Windows 10 for Workstations is available now in Windows Store for $125.
