Windows 10: Windows becomes inaccessible

This has happened once or twice before, and this time with great difficulty and a huge amount of time I have solved, but I'm deathly afraid of a recurrence. I'm seeking a new backup program, as the backup programs I had installed would not restore. What happens is that after a Windows update the screen goes black and I see onscreen notices at different stages in the course of my efforts that Windows in working on features, is 100% complete, and didn't load correctly. Despite the "100 % complete" message, windows doesn't come back, and I'm presented with a blue screen or a black screen. This last time I somehow managed eventually to restore by going through all the options again and again. My computer manufacturer, HP, said it's strictly a Windows problem. I have postponed or attempted to postpone Windows updates. What can I do to prevent this failure?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

It is an intermediate level link.
There are more advanced steps that can be ran once the partition structure is known.
There are steps for repair of the boot sector, operating system, etc.
Sometimes this bugcheck can be caused by windows updates.

A reset save files equivalent may be able to be performed.
Alternatively a clean install can be performed once important files are backed up.
