  1. Windows biometrics randomly stops working without explanation.

Why is this a common thread in Win 10 and 11 reported problems but to date no usable permanent solution has been produced. I have found a work around through hours of searching. Anyone who is finding this regular issue, at least every two to three months from my experience, the solution can be found by changing the Windows Biometric Service under Component Service/Services Local, to AUTO. If you can't find this press Windows Logo + R, type dcomcnfg. For some unknown reason biometrics keeps changing to DISABLED. Only Microsoft can explain this but will they?I hope this saves many peopl

    :)

  2. Windows hello facial recognition has stopped working, biometrics missing.

Window Hello facial recognition has stopped working .I have tried all the advice I can find on the web to fix it ,but have managed to remove the biometrics from the device manager list. I've searched for a replacement download but couldn't find anything.
I'm using a Surface Pro 4. Any Suggestions?

  3. Why is Windows Biometric Service randomly stopping with Windows 11

My fingerprint scanner has stopped working multiple times since I upgraded to Windows 11. 25% of the time windows has presented a driver update which temporarily resolved the issue. 25% of the time there has been a driver update available, but I have had to search through the internet to find it as it is not listed in windows support anywhere. 25% of the time no error is presented, and I have had to create new fingerprints to resolve the issue. And the last 25% if the time the window biometric service is just randomly stopped and if I restart it, it starts working again.

I have seen this issue presented in the user community a few times and the only answer I am seeing are other users recommending the inquirer walk through all the same things I have gone through. This feels like a band-aid process to me, and I would like to know

    1. If there is some stability development in the works for fingerprint scanners and windows 11?
    2. Is Windows update unable to keep pace with driver updates for some reason?
      • Are the driver developers desperately trying to overcome issues with Windows 11 and getting out of sync with Microsoft updates?
        • And if so, is there some program/project management going into place to smooth this process out?

    Windows Hello Randomly Stopped Working?

    Hi Gloria,

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest running the automated troubleshooter to scan your computer, identify the problems, and attempt to fix the issues automatically. You may refer to the steps below:

    1. Press Windows key + R and type Control Panel.
    2. Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on Troubleshooting.
    3. Click on Hardware and Devices.
    4. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

If the troubleshooter can't identify or fix the problem, it's possible that you might be missing the latest updates for the biometric device driver. See if an update for your device is available or see if uninstalling and reinstalling the driver resolves
    the issue.

    1. Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
    2. Expand one of the categories to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver. For biometric devices, expand the
Biometric devices category, right click the device name, and select Update Driver.
    3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
    4. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall. Restart
your PC, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Let me know how it goes.
