Windows 10: Windows Black Screen after Interrupted update

Hello

A few days ago, my computer was starting an update and had lost power to the PC and Router Black out as it was updating. Now when my PC turns on, the monitor itself stays black with no correlation of input what so ever. The monitor itself has been tested along with the cables and works fine with other devices but not the computer in question. I've also tried booting it into repair mode but due to the monitor always staying unresponsive/black, there is no way for me to see what is happening on screen or know if I'm making any progress.


I've gone ahead and eliminated hardware issues by troubleshooting/swapping parts in and out and still am getting nothing from the monitor itself even though the computer is booting up


Any help would be appreciated thank you

• When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
  
• Did you get any error code or error message?

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
