  1. Windows Blue Screening on Idle, Best Update between 1709 - 1903

    Hey Rootars

So I've kept this update for awhile now, since at the time I updated and I thought it was horse shit.

But now recently windows has made my efforts obsolete, and requesting me to update every second.

I've ignore it until now more and more problems have been occurring. Boot drive being switched out, games deleting from blue screen, take a piss- blue screen blue screen blue screen.

Again could be that I haven't clean it in my routine 2 years, but.

It took me a second to realise that the blue screens have been happening from <4 weeks, exactly before windows starting hounding me to update.

So I did what every intellect does, googled it. Whoop first result was update.

So that leads me here, what's the best update between 1709 - 1903?

The reason why I'm asking is that maybe I could switch out to a more stable release than fully update to the latest (if there's a way to do that).

Would it be better for me to update to a select? or just send it and submit to window's torture?

    Cheers

(also if you can chuck in a guide to update to a select, would be appreciated)

  2. Blue screen on update to 1709

I have Windows 10 pro (10.0.16063 Build 15063) and when I try to update to "Feature update to Windows 10, 1709" it goes through the installation process and during the reboot steps, it shows a blue screen with the code "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED".
I've tried this several times now and each time it bluescreens.

On Windows update, it shows there was a problem installing the update and the error is "0x80242006".

I've unplugged all extra peripherals and uninstalled a ton of software that I didn't absolutely need.

I went through some troubleshooting with Microsoft and they tried doing the update via a download. Today, I got a new prompt for the update via the "update assistant" and I also tried that to no avail.

I can't seem to find any memory dump in my Windows folder so I'm not sure what I should be doing to troubleshoot.

    PC specs:

    • Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z170 mark 1
    • CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K

Happened when coming from vmware after the system was idle.

    1. Windows 10 1903
    2. NO blue screen.
