Windows 10: Windows Briefcase Feature

While there are many ways to sync files in Windows 10, some may be accustomed to Windows Briefcase Feature.
Personally I've never used it, but, if you wish to restore, (or remove), the feature, copy the following code(s) into Notepad and save as a .reg file.

Can someone try this? My E90 is at the service centre. I did not follow the briefcase approach the last time.

Nokia PC Suite implements synchronisation of files and folders by using the Briefcase feature in Windows, see How To Use the Briefcase Feature in Windows XP. You create a briefcase folder in Windows Explorer (e.g. in your Documents folder) and then drag and
drop files and folders into the briefcase folder. This will create links to the actual files and folders elsewhere on the PC.

You then synchronise the briefcase folder on the PC with a folder on the device (Nokia PC Suite suggests the D:\Briefcase folder on my 9300i). You can now work with the files in the Briefcase folder on the device. After you have made changes to the files in
the Briefcase folder, you can synchronise the device with the PC again. Now the files and folders within the Briefcase folder on the device updates the corresponding files in the Briefcase folder on the PC, and, since that folder contains links to files and
folders elsewhere on the PC, it is actually those files and folders that are updated.

All this also works with network drives.

You don't have to save them, particularly, you could just create them, run either then delete them.
You might save them if you wanted to add or remove the entry off and on.

 

@Edwin that would be useful for where Windows 10's File History can't find a drive(or won't allow, as on Win10 it must be an external device, be it a USB drive or a network location, but NOT a 2nd internal).
