  1. Windows Build/Version Upgrade & Settings Question

Hello everyone, is it true that if you tweak settings in Windows in one version 1903, for example

and upgrade to another version, 1909, for example every Windows setting you tweaked in the previous version resets?

I've heard this happen before and I'm not sure if this was fixed or not.

    :)

My Windows 10 version keeps showing me as version 1607, Build 14393.1593

    Hi,

Since you mentioned that your computer is on Version 1607, it's not set to receive updates for Version 1703, Creators Update. Additionally, Windows 10 Build 16257 is an Insider build that only those who joined the Insider Program will receive. If you are
interested in the Insider Program, we suggest checking this
    article
by our MVP Andre Da Costa that contains steps for installing Insider Builds. If you want to upgrade to Creators Update and not the Insider Build, follow the steps listed

    here
    .

Note: Before making any changes to your computer, create a backup of your files to prevent data loss.

Let us know if you have any other concerns regarding Windows 10 builds.

Build 10240 - Any expiry on ACTIVATED versions??

I was going to do that for my benefit because of the way I have my partitions setup and to be legal with the EULA that isn't a step by step instruction. Right now I am waiting to see if build 10240 is actually the release build and yes I know at lot of people don't believe 10240 is the release version. I still may need to do that if build 10240 is not the release version.

Windows Build/Version Upgrade & Settings Question

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?
