Camera App starts Windows Store, not Camera

When I attempt to start the Camera App from the Start Menu, the Windows Store App opens to the Downloads and Updates page. The first time I did this, the Camera App was listed as one to update, but then everything (I guess) updated and the Camera still brought
up the Store Downloads page, with nothing listed.

When I view the Camera App in the "All Apps" view, there is a horizontal bar under it, something like a progress bar at zero %.

What I have tried:

• Restarting the computer
• Running the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter (no problems found)
• Running Windows Store Check for Updates (no updates)

I waited a while and ran Check for Updates again, and the entire list from before reappeared:

• Google
• AccuWeather
• Twitter
• Windows Reading List
• Windows Maps
• Windows Alarms & Clock
• Movies & TV
• Xbox
• Groove Music
• Store
• Windows Camera
• OneNote
• Skype
• Mail and Calendar

All of these downloaded and were marked "complete."

After all of these updated, including Camera, I tried most of the Apps from the list and all of them worked. Then I went back to All Apps and noticed that the "progress bar" had moved to about 70% where it seemed to stay.

This is on a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet with internal camera. Windows 10 Build 10240. Store is set to automatically update apps. Note: this device stays turned off a lot.

After being stuck on 70% for a while, I decided to reboot and when it did Windows updates were installed and the Camera App "progress bar" was back at zero, and the App started the Store with no updates pending. I then asked it to check for updates, and
it found the list of 14 that it had previously updates twice. They updated the 3rd time. I went back to All Apps and the "progress bar" was under the camera at zero, and then after a short time, the progress bar disappeared, and the Camera app was working
again.

Did you check Windows Store for camera updates?

Uninstall Skype

Reboot the phone twice

Retry camera

 

Will look for it for my tablet when I get home, thanks! My tablet has dual cameras and only one was showing up in the camera app until I went through the powershell routine of uninstalling the camera app, applied a registry tweak, then reinstalled the camera app so I hope the update doesn't break it.
