    Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file


    Hello.

    Just installed Win10.

    I'm having trouble both opening and renaming/changing some files. I had no trouble before on win8.
    I am administrator with elevated previliges. I changed UAC level to the lowest.

    I keep getting this error:
    "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

    any ideas?

    I tried to open pre-existing and new files, and I get the same message. So I did as you recommended, uninstall the Reader and re-install it. (I also had Adobe Professional 8 and uninstalled it as well. I did not re-install this software.)
    I still receive the same message. Would you happen to know other options I can pursue to resolve this issue?

    "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

    Open Start

    Type: cmd

    Right click CMD

    Click Run as administrator

    At the command prompt, type:

    net user administrator /active:yes

    Hit Enter

    Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

    Try accessing it again.
