    Extracting Zip Files


    Thanks pyramid10 for your contribution, I ensured that the steps taken and the source and destination folders were the same, in the using zip7 as suggested by BunnyJ resolved all issues for me.
    I am the first to admit that I am a long long way from understanding the intricacies of computers and if truth be told I am now to old anyway to absorb much information.

    Extracting Zip Files


    Are the step-by-step processes identical? That is, the folder extracted from and the folder extracted to belong to the same hierarchical file system structure. If they are, that suggests mildly the Cumulative Update left an electron or two out of place.

    Sudden "Windows cannot complete the extraction" error on all zip files

    I work with a lot of zipped folders within zipped folders. These folders contain TIFs and PDFs. Up until now, I have always been able to open these PDFs straight from the zipped folder, without having to extract everything first.

    Today I was in the midst of opening a new batch of PDFs when Adobe Reader DC crashed. Ever since then, including after restarting, every time I try to open a PDF straight from the zipped folder, I receive the error message, "Windows cannot complete the extraction.
    The destination file could not be created."

    The files are not corrupted. I now receive this message for EVERY PDF in a zipped folder, including files in completely different folders that I was using just yesterday, or even just a few hours ago. Moreover, if I go to the trouble of extracting everything,
    I am able to open the PDFs in Acrobat Reader like normal. However, because I'm working with a large number zipped folders within zipped folders, it would be a colossal time sink to extract everything one step at a time. I need to find a solution that allows
    me to go back to opening PDFs straight from their zipped folders.

    Is this a problem with Windows Zip, or is it an Acrobat Reader DC issue? I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it seems to be running normally, but then again, the TIFs still open fine straight from the zipped folders.

    Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice on this.
