  1. Windows cannot find boot devices after Windows update

Hi,My PC forced me to do a Windows update but upon completion it no longer boots. When turning it on is says something about it can't locate a boot device. When I go into the bios, the SSD is still recognised and is still set as priority, it just doesn't boot. I managed to get the pc to work again by restoring from a restore point I saved on an external hard drive so I don't think the SSD is the issue unless anyone thinks otherwise. However this is only a temporary fix because I can use the PC as normal for a few weeks or so by dodging the update, but as soon as it forces the update again, th

  2. Windows XP Error: Could not Boot after update

repairing windows will just fix any damaged files, id suggest taking off your over clocking settings the try booting in, maybe when you updated you also updated some censoring device which is now causing you a problem with your over clock settings.

  4. Windows cannot find boot devices after Windows update

    Windows XP no boot

I have a no boot issue in windows XP. It just keeps giving me the "no boot device" or something similar. It will boot from the Windows XP Home disk without any issues. I have tried replacing the boot.ini, fixmbr, and fixboot. None of these have worked. I even went so far as to doing the repair by installing Windows XP Home. When it rebooted it still gave me the same reading.

I can get it to boot from a Paragon Rescue disk though. I am at a loss on this one. My next step is to run a boot virus check I suppose, as this system had over 300 trojans, virus' and malware.

This is a friends computer that has a bunch of his work related documents so I don't want to reformat or anything unless it has to.
