"windows can't communicate with the device or resource"

    Hi all,

i had this again just now, last one was maybe a month ago i guess. there are Event 4000s but nothing much else, my DNS is set as per a tip Samuriag gave me Missing Sites?

back now, but is this just a passing ISP issue? last time my wifi was out but i was fine on this wired connection [maybe it was fleeting and sorted itself by the time i logged on?] but this time both computers were showing the same issue. i powered off the router, maybe that was the fix?

odd though, as i sit here the internet light on my router [the little globe w/ the orbitting dot] is red, but i seem to be browsing ok :-/

EDIT - i set the DNS stuff in Windows, i've noticed my Router settings at routerlogin etc had a DNS setting too [set to get automatically] should i change this too or does the WIndows bit override?

    TIA

    :)

Cannot connect to internet - Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)

I am able to get connected to my wireless router but I can not connect to the internet and I see a warning sign over the wifi sign in the tray list. I ran the internet troubleshooting and the result was this:

Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)

The device or resource is not responding to requests.

    Code:

Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)

Thank you for your quick reply. I have performed all troubleshooting steps and stated to no prevail.

When I ran the internet connections troubleshoot it stated that windows can't communicate with device or resource (primary DNS server).

The Network adapter troubleshoot stated that my conputer isappears to be correctly configured but device or resource (dns server) is not responding.

The hardware and devices stated that it could not identify any problems.

I went through all the steps provided by the microsoft help link. Including resetting my network in order to reinstall network devices.

when i ran the windows update trubbleshoot it said it fixed a database issue however it also said the my connection to the internet was broken. And the Sfc scan didnt find anything.

now all troubleshooters state that the connection between my access point, router, or cable modem and internet is broken. (I've tried resetting the router again)
