  1. Windows can't do tasks in proper order

Example 1: I want to open all of last year's PDF bank statement files in say Acrobat.

But it could be ANY other task where you need the "as they appear in Explorer" order to be preserved, whether copying or opening or printing or WHATEVER doing something on some multiple-section of files.

Example 2: I have a Word file for "company's employees pics" with a folder with employees all in order in "<last name>, <first name>.jpg" format, and the selecting step is with Explorer displaying all the jpg files in alphabetical order. I want to just drag and drop the files in Word and get all the photos added in order.

Example 3: I have an open email to send titled "this month's transactions receipts", and an Explorer with the various files for the receipts, sorted to show all the files by date. I want to just drag and drop the files and still have all the attachments in the correct order.

Example 4: Same, but I want to print all the receipts. Or course I don't want to get a jumbled mess, I want them printed in some order, so I sort them out accordingly in Explorer, THEN select the batch, and right click context menu to print.

And I don't expect to have to "do the selection" in any kind of "special" way, either. No matter "how" I selected that group of files, it should just work.

Expected behavior for 99.9% of user cases where it is normal users that just want things to work as they actually very probably NEED TO:

Examples 1-2-3-4-A-B-C-D-X-Y-Z-whatever: The files appear or are "treated" in/on Acrobat Reader/Word/EmailApp/printer (or whatever target app or task!) in the exact same order as the user's selection from Explorer (or whatever other file manager app!). For example with the Acrobat reader example, all its tabs opened will show up exactly from left to right in the proper monthly order.

Ideal _desired nice-to-have_ behavior for 0.1% of user cases that are both power users AND when the user doesn't care about the order in which the batch task is done, and just want to get that small extra performance speed:

Files are resolved in a seemingly jumbled order. But hey it's a little bit faster and who cares in what order the Pc did it! So it's all good!

But Microsoft file management targets catering to the second group instead of the first one. Every dang frakking time!

    What the frak gives?!?

Apparently there might be some official way to make sure that the order is respected, but if it existed I forgot it. I end up having to redo and reorder everything all the time which sucks eggs big time.

If it exists, just what is that "jumping through special hoop" trick"?

Anyway, this definitely should be the default option! The default should be the "base" and "always safe" way, while the "power user" approach should be the EXTRA way that requires a more complicated user step.

Kinda like deleting files, that by default uses the recycle bin, while the "permanently delete" way, is a power-user option happening only if you also do the extra step of SHIFTING when RIGHT-CLICKING the context menu. So it is the power-user option that requires an "extra step" here, not the base default user option!

My point is that this definitely should be the same kind of behavior for opening/copying/printing/"whateverydoing" selections of multiple files!

It's kinda the same thing as if handling a batch of physical folders to some employee of yours, and you give them to him in a very specific order, and tell him to go store them in the company's file cabinets, or whatever task, only to realize afterwards that the guy seemingly did them them in some seemingly fucked up order and you have to go back after him to reorder it all properly again. Or take care to give him the files one. by. frakking. one.

And despite years and years of telling the guy he's doing it wrong, nope, he still insists on keeping doing it like that, all the time, saying that "by default" he just does it a bit faster this way, and that it is your responsibility to, as his boss, each and every frigging time, have the added needed step to handle the folders to him in some "special" more unwieldy way and politely ask him to "make sure you keep them in the same order, ok?".

Yeah, in 99.9% of businesses, that guy would be fired for incompetence, reaaaaally quick, too.

Yet, the fact that after 30+ years of many, many version of Windows, that Microsoft still hasn't fixed that "intuitive behavior should be the default", is something that is totally incomprehensible to me.

Just who needs to get fired, here?

    lol

Sorry for the long rant, it's just a "windows feature" that has been rubbing me the wrong for decades now.

  2. Windows Taskbar Button Order forgets "proper" order

I am a visual person and want my Windows Explorer folder windows to be opened at the same coordinates and in the same order. Everyday when I login, I run a script to open the same five folders in the "proper" order so I can manually drag them to where they "ought" to be on the screen.

Can anybody tell me why, say, the SECOND folder sometimes forgets that it's supposed to be second in the Combined Buttons list and jumps to the end of the list?

Windows can't do tasks in proper order 228722d1553708786t-windows-taskbar-button-order-forgets-proper-order-explorer-folders.png

When it does, I have to stop my workflow and close ALL the Explorer windows and re-run the script. (For example, I had to close the 3 project folders I am working on in order to capture this demonstrating screenshot)

And is there a way to have these five folders always open in the "right" place and not have to manually drag them around?

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

Change Wireless Network Connection Priority Order in Windows 10

Hello Denis, Windows can't do tasks in proper order :)

The command in step 2 of Option Two should show your wireless networks listed in priority order. Top of the list is higher.
