Windows 10: Windows can’t log in - no log in prompt at startup or in safe mode

After shutting down my desktop last night, I turned it on today and it’s got to password box and it shows my second display as black and I can move my cursor to it. Usually it would not have signal on my second display until I logged in. Ctrl alt del doesn’t work and it there’s also no password box in safe mode. So I tried to do the repairs and when asking for my password to my account it tells me it’s incorrect password even tho I reset it and able to log on and type this question. I have restore points but i can’t even access those as it’s telling me my password is incorrect. Any help is app

I am repairing a laptop for a friend and I need to access windows in safe mode and the owner has forgotten the password to the main user. I tried logging on with the administrator profile in safe mode but it is not showing up so I was going to use command prompt in safe mode with command prompt but command prompt will not open when I boot that option. Does anyone have any hints for me to figure this out?

Would I just follow the same steps within safe mode after hooking up to the other system?

If you're having issues logging into safe mode, we recommend trying the suggestions posted by Vanessa Sohtun in this
thread. Quite a few people found her suggestions helpful.
