Windows 10: Windows Checked for Update without Internet Connection?

Hello,

I saw today that Windows 10 checked for an update and said I was “up to date” automatically even though it’s not connected to internet. It has no WiFi antenna and can only connect through Ethernet which I mostly leave unplugged. I’m curious if this is some kind of bug where it checks for an update and because it can’t get to the servers, it just says there are none. Any ideas?

Method 1: Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with
your internet.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel

• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter and Network Adapter troubleshooter

Method 2.

Try updating the Network Adapter drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the Network Adapter drivers:

a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

b. Expand Network Adapter.

c. Right-click on the Ethernet and click on Update driver software.

d. Restart the computer and check.

Method 3: If you are using any Proxy connection, then try disabling the proxy connection and check.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

• Click the Settings icon at the top right corner in internet explorer.
  
• Click the Tools button, and then click
  Internet Options.
• Click the Connections tab, and then click
  LAN settings.
• Uncheck the box next to "proxy server for your LAN".
  
• Click on OK to save the setting and close window.
