Windows Credential Manager - authenticate for entire domain instead of just one server

I would like to set up a windows credential manager entry that substitutes my credentials when connecting to any server or resource (SQL instance, web sites, fileshares, etc) in another domain.

For example, let's say I normally log into my laptop with "domain1.com\userMe". I want to be able to connect to two different SQL Server instances "SQLServer1.domain2.com, 1433" and "SQLServer2.domain2.com, 1433" using Windows authentication. I have an AD user in domain2.com called "userMe" that has permissions to both SQL instances.

I would like to set up a Credential Manager Windows credential on my laptop in domain1.com, which maps "domain2.com" to "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" with my password, so any time I connect to any SQL instance, website, or fileshare in domain2.com, it automatically maps my login to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. It would look like this:
Windows Credential Manager - authenticate for entire domain instead of just one server 75296c78-e1f8-42a6-a608-181af7ff1c5b?upload=true.png
Is this supported? I have tried it, and it works for some resources (SQL Server), but not others (websites and fileshares).

    :)

  4. Windows Credential Manager - authenticate for entire domain instead of just one server

Question for some1 with windows domain knowledge

I know there isnt a whole lot of server admins here, but I thought I would ask.

At my work we had our office domain server go down due to windows corruption. Since they have still been able to login to their accounts using the server that went down. So they picked the ADMIN domain in the their drop down list.

Now that i'm rebuilding the ADMIN server I want to make sure they can use the same accounts and still have all of their my documents data and such. I want to know where is their ADMIN user data and authentication being kept. Would it be the other domain on the network? or on their local machines?

Note* there is no trust setup from what i can tell between the two servers. And their accounts dont exist in active directory on the other server.

    Any help is appreciated
