Windows 10: Windows Credentials/Networking Issue

Here is the issueI have three PC's - Basement W10 Ethernet, Den W11 Ethernet & Laptop W11 Wi-Fi. Laptop & Den to Basement fine.All network sharing passwords are turned off.Pings go bothways and Laptop can see Den but not other way around.Den Windows 11 Home - Version -10.0.22621 Build - 22621Laptop Windows 11 Pro - Version -10.0.2200 Build - 22000So, there are two issues.- It still asked me for passwords for all PC's even though password sharing is off on all PC's ? I do not understand why but added passwords anyway.- 2nd issue is that all PC's are fine and added usernames and pa

Network Credentials

Hi Sammy,

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
manager.

• Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
• Type in Windows Credentials.

We would appreciate as well if you could provide us a screenshot.

Windows Network Credentials

Hi Keith,

We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

• In the search box type “Services”
• Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator”
• In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
• Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
• Restart the computer again.

Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.

 

Enter Network Credentials issue.

It seems like you're facing issues with accessing shared folders on your desktop from your laptop after a clean install of Windows 11. The "Enter Network Credentials" prompt is asking for the correct credentials to access the shared folders. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Check Username and Password: Double-check that you are entering the correct username and password. The credentials you need to enter are those associated with your desktop where the shared folders are located. If you're using a Microsoft account to log into your desktop, you should use the associated email and password.
   
2. Use Correct Network Path: When entering the network credentials, make sure you are using the correct network path. The path should resemble the following:
   
   \\computername\sharedfolder
   
   Replace "computername" with the actual name of your desktop computer and "sharedfolder" with the name of the shared folder you're trying to access.
   
3. Update Credentials: If you're sure you're using the correct credentials but still facing issues, you can try updating the credentials in the Credential Manager on your laptop:
   
   a. On your laptop, go to the Control Panel. b. Navigate to User Accounts > Credential Manager. c. Under "Windows Credentials," click on "Add a Windows credential." d. In the "Internet or network address" field, enter the name of your desktop computer. e. Enter the correct username and password for your desktop.
   
4. Check Folder Permissions: On your desktop, ensure that the shared folders have the appropriate permissions set up for the user account you're using to access them. Right-click on the shared folder, go to "Properties," and under the "Sharing" tab, ensure that the correct users or groups have the necessary permissions.
   
5. Network Reset: If the issue persists, you might consider performing a network reset on both your desktop and laptop. This can sometimes help resolve network-related issues. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Network Reset.
