  1. Windows Cum Update Feb 2020 - Issues with Outlook, OneNote, Edge Plugins

Just installed the latest cumulative update for Win10 Feb2020 on my Surface Pro 3. FYI - I am a former Microsoft employee enterprise architect Issues spotted so far with this update are as follows:

    1. I launch OneNote and it claims it cannot sync and prompts me to login to my MSFT account. I enter my @live.com email and hit "next", but it does not progress. I am just returned back to OneNote where it reports I am not signed in. It never asks for my password.
    2. I launch Outlook and it attempts to connect to Exchange, but then reports it is disconnected. I see a login screen briefly display but then it goes away. Login window begins to flicker so fast that you only see the outline of the window frame appear and then disappear. Outlook itself goes to background and if I attempt to bring it to the foreground, it displays briefly, attempt to connect and then goes to background and the flickering login commences. If I don't actually close Outlook app, the flicker continues to disrupt any other activity.
    3. I launch Edge and attempt to login to Fidelity.com. Fidelity goes to an error screen reporting an issue with the Symantec plugin for two factor authentication. See image below. I try using Chrome instead and I can login to Fidelity without issue.

Now going to rollback the updates and pause them for 7 days to see if MSFT fixes these issue. Appreciate any suggestions to correct these issues. Windows Cum Update Feb 2020 - Issues with Outlook, OneNote, Edge Plugins 7a353286-50b3-436b-b15d-79b33752c924?upload=true.png

  2. New Windows Media Player Plugin for Firefox

Anyone who uses Windows Vista and Mozilla Firefox may be pleased to hear that the Windows Media Player team has now released a plugin for Firefox that should allow the browser to play WMP content on websites. Here are the steps to get it working:
    • Installation of the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin may require administrative access to your PC. It is recommended that you close all other open browser windows before continuing with the installation.
    • Click the Install button to automatically download and install the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin.
    • Depending on your security settings, you may see a Security Warning dialog box. Click Install to install the plugin.
There is a known issue if you are using Firefox version 2.0.0.3 on Windows Vista with the installer failing with error code -203. To work around this simply restart Firefox (you will get a notification that Windows Vista will be changing the Firefox compatibility settings) and then install again - the second time should succeed.

The download is available here, and the new plugin works on all versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista (although it is mostly intended for Vista, as that currently has no WMP support in Firefox).
