Windows 10: Windows Cumulative June 2024 KB5039212 Win11 KB5039211 Win10 update broke our DATAMAX label...

After the June 2024 Cumulative update, we are no longer able to print labels to our DATAMAX label printers. Tried updating the printer drivers and reinstalling printers but to no avail.Only solution was to uninstall the Windows update. As soon as we uninstalled the update, the printers were back to normal.I hope this is resolved before the next update. This is affecting several workstations in our office.

My name is David N., and I am a Community Independent Advisor and Windows fan. I will be happy to assist you with your issue.

There are several possibilities here, but what I would recommend is trying to manually install the update. If this works then you should no longer have this issue. If this does not work then it is likely that there is a bug in this KB.

First, we get your Windows version:

1. Hold down Start and click R.

2. Type in "winver".

3. Note the version of Windows. It should be 21H2 or 22H2

Next, we download that KB individually:

1. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog.

2. Enter the KB number and choose Search.

You are probably looking at one of these two options. Check the version number and choose the appropriate one:

2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5039211) Windows 10, version 1903 and later

2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5039211)

After you download the KB, run it. It will install just this single KB. With any luck it will install cleanly and resolve your issue.

If this does not work then it is likely that you will want to wait until the next round of Windows Updates. If this is a bug then it is likely to be corrected by that time.
