  1. Windows Defender again... YES

    Hello.

For Past few weeks im trying to normalize this piece of crap, with no visual improvements, Windows Defender uses 200-400MB of RAM while IDLE, in Task Sheduler i disabled the scans, i also went to Group Policy and turned off Defender, used GPupdate /force first, the Defender process was still visible with +/- 260MB, after restarting it climed to 300MB... because windows 10 behaves strange, ( opens paint, some softwares that i didnt turn off manually ) i turned it off, switched off PSU and hold power button for 5sec and then turn it on, and used 200mb+ having 8GB DDR3 is bad ( and before you " Moron " reply " just buy 16GB of RAM, problem solved " i respond: give me money and i'll buy it, if i could i would,

i play games that love RAM, and know that they would go beyond 8GB if they could, causing stutter, does any one have any ideas? as long as its possible i'll try it. i tried Avast and alt but after counting all MB used for all processes it sum in the range of Defender 160MB+ ( and i saw that Defender used once 70MB AND IT WAS GOOD AF, but it never occured again :'(

  2. Windows Defender problem

    Hi Ernst,

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + R key.
    • Type services.msc.
    • Right-click Windows Defender service and click
      Start.

    Let us know the result.

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

    • On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
    • Click Settings.
    • Turn Real-time protection on.
We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.

Should you have further questions, feel free to get back to us.
