Windows 10: Windows defender and Chrome preferences submit

Hi all!

I don't know why but my Windows Defender insists to submit a file named Preferences located normally at C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default at every login, reboot, and time to time...

Of course I deny it. Why on Earth should I submit my Chrome preference config file to Microsoft? The WD don't catch any threat anyway and its behavior seems to suspicious and boring.

Any clue?

Bitdefender error popup at restart

Thanks, I submitted a ticket.

Oddly, I can not find bitdefender in start, programs or apps, and it is not in the installed programs list

in control panel. I never installed it and honestly, would prefer to remove it. Is this part of windows

defender?

 

Windows defender keep prompting me to send files for review

Hi James,

Let me summarize the problem and its seriousnesS:

• Defender detects for some reason the file in AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Secure Preferences as a file to send to review to MS.
• If you click review, there is a UI bug that does not allow you to actually understand what file this is talking about - there are no buttons to access it, ignore it etc... we had to search and guess by the filename.
• That file apparently contains privacy sensitive details such as email accounts/usernames, and many users may simply submit without realizing they are submitting such details in insecure manner.

Does it clear up what the issue is about?

 

Have you place a exception for that folder.
