    Windows Defender Antivirus not working


    I’m running Windows 10 Home on a HP Spectre 360 laptop. When I click on Settings, Windows Security, Virus and threat protection it says under this ‘No actions needed.’ Yet I keep getting a message popping up telling me that I need to turn on virus protection. When this window pops up it says click here. When I do I get the following message; Page not available. Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app, and the item you tried to access is not available. Contact the IT helpdesk for more information! I live alone, I am the administrator!Windows Security is all I have on

    Defender AntiVirus

    There are 4 options under Defender. Two refer to AntiVirus; AntiVirus Network Inspection Service & AntiVirus Services. Under Startup Type these two are listed as manual and the Status column said Inspection Service is running. When I clicked on the Start
    button in Properties, I got an immediate message: "Win.. Def.. Anti.. Serv.. on local comp.. started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

    If you are wanting to turn off Windows Defender Antivirus, then you could use an option in the updated tutorial below. Be sure to turn off Tamper Protection first in step 1.
