This started happening after a Windows Update to the .NET framework, so cannot be shrugged off as malware. Please can someone at Microsoft confirm this is being investigated and that a bug fix will be issued via Windows Update in the near future? The repeated security alerts are very annoying, but I cannot simply ignore them in case of a real threat. Many thanksAl

Can you Manually Run .NET Runtime Optimization Service?

Hello LMan17, how are you doing?

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

I'm glad to be able to assist you at this time.

Yes, you can manually run the .NET Runtime Optimization Service (mscorsvw.exe) to ensure it runs properly. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

    -

    2. Type "cmd" and press Enter to open the Command Prompt.

    -

    3. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter:

    cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.3031

Note: If you have a different version of .NET installed, replace "v4.0.30319" with the appropriate version number.

    -

    4. Now, type the following command and press Enter:

    ngen.exe executeQueuedItems

This command will manually start the .NET Runtime Optimization Service and execute any pending optimizations. After executing these commands, the .NET Runtime Optimization Service should start and run properly.
