Windows 10: Windows Defender crashes when i click ''Run a new advanced scan''

Discus and support Windows Defender crashes when i click ''Run a new advanced scan'' in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security to solve the problem; it freezes when i press the button, so i cannot do things like full scan. fast scan works fine though. how can i fix this?...     it freezes when i press the button, so i cannot do things like full scan. fast scan works fine though. how can i fix this?

    Windows Defender Run New Advanced Scan Crashes To Desktop


    Up until a month ago, never had a problem running a full scan. After last big update when I open WD and select "Run New Advanced Scan" it crashes To desktop. I can run quick scan no problem.

    Windows 10 64-bit on desktop computer.

    I've run sfc /scannow with no issues detected.

    Similar to this thread Windows Defender Anti-Virus Options disappears [CU/ 1703]

    But I'm not running another antivirus program.

    In my event viewer I have the error: "unable to start a dcom server"
    happened while starting this command C:\\FileCoAuth.exe - Embedding

    I also ran windows safety scanner and nothing found. Any ideas?

    Windows defender crash during scan

    Windows defender keeps crashing every time I do a scan it will get about 60,000+ and then crash Malewarebytes doesn't find anything,(I even uninstalled malewarebytes still crash) everything is up to date, I have no Java. I don't go to any possible bad websites. this started after I was cleaning out some old stuff in my temps folder, but I only got rid of folder that said they where empty.

    anyone know what this could be? *Bang Head :banghead:

    If I wait about 1 min. after the crash it goes back to normal

    mrgeek was being "cool" to let you know he does not have the issue.

    Seems to be a common issue. Check the above thread and link in my post #2.
