    Local Security Authority protection Bug?

    Open an admin Command Prompt and run these two commands:

    • reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "RunAsPPL" /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f
    • reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "RunAsPPLBoot" /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f
    Restart Windows. That should clear the yellow exclamation warning.

    Funny that the official documentation makes no mention of setting the RunAsPPLBoot registry entry.

    From the Official Documentation referenced in this thread-

    Configuring Additional LSA Protection

    "...How to enable LSA protection on a single computer

    Using the Registry

    Open the Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe), and navigate to the registry key that is located at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa.



    Set the value of the registry key to:



    "RunAsPPL"=dword:00000001 to configure the feature with a UEFI variable.

    "RunAsPPL"=dword:00000002 to configure the feature without a UEFI variable (only on Windows 11, 22H2).

    Restart the computer...."

    "Local Security Authority protection is off." with persistent restart.....

    ....Workaround: If you have enabled Local Security Authority (LSA) protection and have restarted your device at least once, you can dismiss warning notifications and ignore any additional notifications prompting for a restart. You can verify that LSA protection is enabled by looking in Event Viewer using the information available here. Important: Currently, we do not recommend any other workaround for this issue.

    Next steps: We are working on a resolution and will provide an update as soon as it is available.

    Configuring Additional LSA Protection

    I wonder if after disabling notification, users should occasionally review that Issue details page for the updates, so they can try to turn it back on. I have not seen where a user, who ignores a turned off security option and turns off notifications in Windows Defender, has the option automatically turned back on by Microsoft.
