I have a new laptop with win 10 home. suddenly i noticed no avast, no antivirus, no firewall and all the options of Windows Security are grey or not available and i can't make them active again.
I installed avast free and still win10 dont recognize there is any security. I don't know what's happening. Really odd. Did some scans with avast and found a few threats which it eliminated. Was it a purposeful attack on antivirus protection from the threats? I still cant bring back windows security protection detection and management. Windows have no idea about avast's existence. I'm not sure about firewall either. Does avast provide it even though windows does not detect it?

    windows defender firewall

    Hi Faye,

Third-party antivirus programs usually have their own uninstallers provided by the software developer. We suggest checking the developer's website or contacting their support team for assistance with uninstalling their program. After fully uninstalling the
third-party antivirus software, you may turn on Windows Defender by following these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Windows Defender Security Center and press Enter.
    • Click Firewall and network protection.
    • Click Private (discoverable) network and click On.
    • Click Public (non-discoverable) network and click On.

Let us know if you have any other concerns about Windows Defender.

Protecting the computer (windows defender, avast, etc)?

Agreed with Firefox w/ Adblock Plus and NoScript. I suggest Antivir. Very trustworthy Antivirus and is less resource hogging the avast. Takes up about 40mb with guard enabled and 30mb with guard disabled.
