Windows 10: Windows Defender Firewall error code 0x800706d9

Hi there,


Since a few days, i've got this problem that i am unable to activate the firewall, as soon as i try to activate it by myselfe, the following error shows up: 0x800706d9

And also more and more of those little Windows Apps are dissapearing. For example the Picture viewer or Kalender.... (not realy dissapearing but uninstalling themselfes and then it is not possible to install them again, because the firewall is deactivated...)

I would love to hear a sollution wish doesnt involve Deleting and re Installing windows.


Things i tried: SFC /SCANNOW a few times... at first it found some errors which it could not repair mdmdcm6.inf, bdeui.dll and cipher.dll. But after runnign a dism opperation it was able to repair those.
I tried to reset windows to a earlier version which failed... i dont know why but it never went past the initialising stage)

But nothing changed the firewall problem.

Mabe there is something else i could do?

Unable to turn on Windows firewall error code 0x800706d9

I keep getting this error code 0x800706d9. I cannot enable the firewall Manually. Its preventing me from installing updates. I am trying to avoid formatting my rig unless I have to. Also Windows defender is disabled as well. I have ran multiple Security
Scans I am Virus and Malware Free so I am not sure what the issue is. I have another Windows 10 Computer In my home I thought about going and copying the files and the replacing them in my computer but I don't which files I need to copy.

when I try to install updates I get error code 0x800706d9. when I look up firewall I get a box to update setting. when I press this nothing happens. I tried to enter firewall clicked enter and got error code 0x6D9.

Method 2:

This error is by design. Most users who want to disable the Windows Firewall will use the Windows Firewall wizard and set the firewall to "Off" rather than disabling the Firewall/ICS service directly. When the Windows Firewall/ICS service is stopped you
cannot even launch the Windows Firewall wizard.

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows Key + R for Run.
• Type devmgmt.msc and then Enter.
• Right click on the Windows firewall and then set it to
  Automatic.
