Windows 10: Windows Defender gone black after uninstalling McAfee antivirus

hello! i was installing a fresh copy of windows 11 today. i bought this laptop 10 days ago. after installation, i uninstalled the McAfee antivirus as it came preinstalled on my laptop. after uninstalling, my defender became completely blank and it doesn't show any options. how can i solve this issue? please guide me!

My new HP Note Book came equipped with McAfee antivirus program. I kept it. Windows Defender is shown as being "ON". I understand two such programs should not run at the same time. I looked in my security settings and found that even if I were to turn
off Defender, after awhile it would turn itself back on. This seems odd to me. What is the correct way (step by step please) to turn off Defender and keep it off since I use McAfee and will renew it?

How to activate windows Defender Antivirus after uninstalling the pre-installed McAfee antivirus?

I want to switch from the pre-installed McAfee Antivirus to the WDA. For that I have uninstalled the McAfee antivirus from the device. But after that when I am trying to open the Virus protection settings in the windows defender software, this is the message I am getting:





I need help in fixing this issue. Kindly suggest me what to do to activate the WDA antivirus protection for my laptop.
