    Windows Defender indicated a 'Threat' but at the file location of 'Affected Item', file not...


    When I go to that folder it is not there, even when turning on 'show hidden files'. The threat found is "PUADlManager:Win32/Snackarcin". When I try to get Windows Defender to either remove or quarantine this threat nothing happens, it says that it is still active. Any help would be appreciated, Brian

    How can I get my files restored from Windows Defender quarantine?

    Hello my name is Yohandi.

    It is a pleasure to have your participation in the Microsoft Community

    To restore the items that are in the Windows quarantine, defend the steps shown below.

    1- Open Windows Defender> Virus and threat protection

    2- Go to Threat History tab.

    3- In the History tab, check for Quarantined items.

    4- Place to check on the file that you want to restore, this should enable Allow item.

    5- Press Allow item, this should bring the file back to the original location.

    To check where the files are located, kindly follow the steps listed below:

    Open Windows Defender.

    Go to History tab.

    In the History tab, check for Quarantined items.

    Click on view details.

    In the description, it will show you the path where it is located.

    What does affected items mean in windows defender?

    Hi Josh,

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Yes, 'affected' items indicates those are the files that are infected with a virus or malware, Defender should automatically quarantine them, or if you have had a ransomware attack, 'affected' files means files that have been encrypted.

    Windows Defender - File Removed

    Windows defender has removed file from my PC as being a medium level threat, I know this file and I also know that windows detects it a false positive.

    I want Windows defender to return the file to where it was removed from, but am unable to get it to do this.

    I go into defender and its not listed under Quarantined Items.

    but is listed under all detected Items. How can I find this file and return it to where it should be?
