Windows 10: Windows Defender Is Deleting Essential Files Without My Consent!

I am beyond frustrated with Windows Defender's behavior recently. It has been deleting my files repeatedly without my consent, but I managed to bear with it—until today. It has now removed Microsoft Edge itself!I rely on these browsers and other files daily, and having them removed without any confirmation has disrupted my work and wasted valuable time. This reckless behavior is completely unacceptable.I understand the need for protection against threats, but deleting legitimate software is NOT the solution. Microsoft, this issue needs urgent attention.Here’s what needs to be fixed immediately

Windows 10 Windows Defender versus Microsoft Security Essentials

Microsoft Security Essentials was upgraded to Windows defender and it was a default security software from Windows 8. You cannot have both as they are one.

Since you get this annoying popup at the startup i suggest you to disable any Microsoft Security Essentials entries in Startup tab.

• Open the Task manager. by pressing Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
• click on Startup tab
• Right click on Microsoft Security Essentials entry and click on Disable.

Restart the computer and check if that helps.

 

Security Essentials Windows Defender error 0x80070002 after upgrading to Windows 10

windows defender is part of the windows 8/10 operating system now so should be on the c drive with the rest of the windows files. possibly when you upgraded security essentials came over with it and is conflicting. first I would make sure that security essentials
or the old defender are not listed in programs and features. if they are listed run the uninstall. The built in defender will not be listed.

Also try:

• Stop Windows Update service
• clear C:\Windows\Temp and %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp
  
• rename the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder to SoftwareDistribution.old (this will be recreated when you restart the service.
• restart Windows Update service
• try updating Windows Defender again

• In the search box type as ‘Windows Defender’ and click on it.
• Under the tab ‘History’ select the option ‘Quarantined items’.
• Click on ‘View Details’ and check if any files are available.
• If the files are present then click on the file and click on ‘Restore’.
