Windows 10: Windows Defender is shutting down my laptop during its execution

Case# - 704759777 Since middle of May of this year I have not been able to run a full scan in Windows Defender. The full scan closes my 64 bit laptop randomly during the full scan execution. I ran “msert” and it ended abnormally also, twice! A second case was opened with work done on the CMD DOS screen. Third time with 704759777, I was left with three things running. I let them run overnite. Two finished the other I let run a good portion of the day. I need to shut off Windows Defender for good.

I can't have two softwares doing the same job twice, been using Norton since 2000/1 and continue to use it. I need to have Windows Defender shut down for good.

Any suggestions?
