Windows 10: Windows defender keeps notifying

Hi, I've recently been having some weird issues going on with my laptop. The most recent being that my notification center keeps giving me notifications every time I turn on the laptop saying that a threat has been detected (by windows defender). If I click on the notification and go to Windows Defender it either says that there is no threats or (sometimes) it says that an adware was detected called Adware:Win32/Wajagen.A. Even after removing it and running full scans, the notifications keep popping up. They pop up literally every other second even if I don't do anything on the computer (The notifications are up to 20 at this very moment even after I cleared them all). I don't really know if there is any more info that I can give, but if there is something please do ask.


But my laptop did start acting weird before this while virus thing popped up. Prior to this my google chrome would sometimes freeze and stay frozen unless you used task manager to close it. This has been happening for a few days before this virus issue started.


Does anyone know what I can what's going on and what I should do about it?

windows defender keeps saying it finds "potentially harmful software" but nothing listed.

I did these steps and the same problem is still happening. It reports (and notifies) "potentially harmful software" but nothing is listed in the "all items ..." list (or the other two lists). After restart, same problem still - notifications but nothing
is listed.

I have disabled real time protection (temporarily) but this doesn't help either. Is it possible to completely disable or uninstall windows defender?

Running latest windows 10.

Defender keeps notifying "potentially harmful software..." but nothing is listed.

Also - when I run a quick scan, defenders says "app detected a potential threat" but nothing is listed in History or in "all detected items".

I don't care about the threat but I do want defender to stop notifying me. I'd like to "allow" whatever it is defender is finding but nothing is ever listed. I would like to fix the problem but I'd be satisfied if I just completely removed defender from
my system to stop the notifications.

What are my options?

Sorry for the delayed reply. I suggest you to Set Windows Defender to Automatic - You can set the Windows Defender service to Automatic, Disabled or Manual. Setting it to automatic might solve the problem. Follow these
steps:

• Click Start > type services in the Search box > click Services in the Programs list.
• Search for Windows defender.
• Double-click Windows Defender, and click Automatic in the start-up box > click OK.

Also, follow the below mentioned steps and check:

• Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
• Click File > Run New Task
• Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
  
• Type CMD
• Type the following 2 commands at the CMD prompt:
  
  dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  
  sfc /scannow
  
  
• Close the CMD window
