    Windows Defender Offline Scan Not Running


    Hello,I have tried to run Windows Defender Offline Scan now multiple times. Once I click run, it will ask permission and then do nothing. I know that it should be saying that it will be signing off in a few moments, but that doesn't happen. I have tried just about every trouble shooting technique I've worked in IT besides doing a Windows reset. I've looked at a number of articles and followed trouble shooting steps. I would rather not do a Windows reset currently due to time constraints although I will do that as a last resort. If anyone has had this problem and has a interesting solution to

    offline scan by win defender

    Hi,

    To further assist you with your concern with Windows Defender, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Run window by pressing Window + R button.
    • Then type services.msc and hit "Enter".
    • Look for Windows defender service in the list and right click on it and select start.
    • Once Windows defender is opened try to do the offline scan on that window.

    Defender Periodic Scanning or Offline Scanning?

    That link does suggest it's useful to use Defender offline scanning in addition to periodic scanning and a third party real time anti virus (e.g. Kaspersky).

    How to run a full scan with windows defender offline? By default, windows defender offline runs a quick scan. How can I override this? I'm trying to remove trojan downloader:win32/ by using windows
    defender, but it didn't work.
