Windows 10: Windows Defender Offline Scan stuck at 9%b

Discus and support Windows Defender Offline Scan stuck at 9%b in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; Windows defender was turned off when I last booted my laptop so I tried restarting defender to no avail.     Windows Defender Offline Scan stuck at 9%b


    Windows defender was turned off when I last booted my laptop so I tried restarting defender to no avail. After rebooting my pc defender was back online, did a defender quick scan and half way through it turned itself off again. So i though "maybe some malwares doing this, better run it in offline scan", its now been stuck at 9% for the past half hour and now im completely lost on what to do next.

    offline scan by win defender

    Hi,

    To further assist you with your concern with Windows Defender, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Run window by pressing Window + R button.
    • Then type services.msc and hit "Enter".
    • Look for Windows defender service in the list and right click on it and select start.
    • Once Windows defender is opened try to do the offline scan on that window.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Defender Periodic Scanning or Offline Scanning?

    That link does suggest it's useful to use Defender offline scanning in addition to periodic scanning and a third party real time anti virus (e.g. Kaspersky).
