Windows 10: Windows Defender problem, cant delete scan history and also on "start actions" nothing happens

Clear Windows Security Center (Defender) Protection History

Did not work for me. After going through all steps I still have protection history full

 

Clearing Windows Defender history

Hey, what you need to do is so simple, just follow the steps below exactly in order:

1. Turn OFF Real-time Protection
2. Turn OFF Cloud-delivered Protection
3. Go to this folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service
4. Delete the contents in the folder
5. Turn ON Real-time Protection
6. Turn ON Cloud-delivered Protection

That's it... Now check protection History, it's empty.
Done!

1. Full Manual Scan taking a long long long time-
This issue happens due to temporary Internet files, cookies, and other applog files. To resolve this issue, it is recommended to remove all these files before you schedule a full scan.

Deleting the temporary files and the browsing history increases the performance of Internet Explorer. However, you can store the temporary files till the space allocated to it is completely filled up. So it is wise to delete the
files and the browsing history, every couple of months.



2. Cannot set up an automated scan-


Kindly follow the below given steps to schedule auto scan:

• Open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type
  Defender, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Defender.
  
• Click Tools, and then click Options.
• Under Automatic scanning, select the Automatically scan my computer (recommended) check box, select the frequency, time of day, and type of scan that you want to run, and then click
  Save. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
• To automatically remove spyware or other potentially unwanted software after a scan, in the left pane, click
  Default actions, select the action that you want to apply to each alert item, select the
  Apply recommended actions check box, and then click Save. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
