Windows 10: Windows Defender Protection History Empty. Still Get Notifications Programs Are Being...

Clear Windows Security Center (Defender) Protection History

Did not work for me. After going through all steps I still have protection history full

 

Windows Defender Protection History Empty. Still Get Notifications Programs Are Being Blocked. Can't Unblock Programs.

About a week ago I started having a problem where the protection history for Windows Defender appears empty despite getting notifications of various programs being blocked.

In the past I would get the notification, go into Windows Defender protection history and manually allow the program through/tell Defender its ok. But now when I get the notification and I go to give it permission there's nothing there to give permission to. This has started to cause problems with programs not working correctly or not launching at all since they (or parts of the program) aren't being allowed through Windows Defender to allow them to function properly. How can I get the protection history to show up again?

Windows is up to date, Windows Defender is up to date, video drivers are up to date, I have tried clearing the files here: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Support.

If I go in to Windows Security>Virus & Threat Protection>Manage Settings>Manage Controlled Folder Access>Allow an app through Controlled folder access, I can see a list of programs I have allowed through in the past and am given the option to remove them...but I dont see any current pending requests.

I'm not sure what else to do. Searches online dont seem to bring up any solutions other than reinstalling Windows...which I would like to avoid if possible.
